Tahini recipe, oh so simple

Tahini sauceYou can buy Tahini starting at $0.50 per ounce (in 2020) or make your own for under $.20 per ounce. Most store-bought tahini includes wheat and other fillers.

Make your own, save money, and avoid unwanted ingredients. Better than any other store-bought brand! Made as described, this recipe is Paleo-diet friendly, soy free, dairy free, gluten free, and grain free. Try it.

Makes ~¼ Cup

Ingredients

1 cup white sesame seeds
¼ cup olive oil
Optional:1 Tablespoon lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 3500F
  2. Spread sesame seeds on a baking dish and bake 10 minutes or until fragrant but not toasted, stirring every few minutes.
  3. Transfer baked seeds to a blender or bullet.
  4. Add olive oil and blend until completely smooth. Add more oil if needed. Some of us like to add a Tablespoon of lemon juice also.

Wonderful as an addition to recipes like Hummus Yum, Roasted Cauliflower Chowder, Lemon Tahini Dressing
